S60 3rd Edition SDK for Symbian OS, Feature Pack 2 is Nokia’s official software development kit for creating applications for S60 3rd Edition FP2–based devices. It provides everything developers need to build, test, debug, and package applications, including platform headers and libraries, a device emulator, build tools, comprehensive documentation, and sample code.
The SDK supports native Symbian C++ and Java ME (MIDP/CLDC) development. It integrates with Nokia’s Carbide.c++ IDE and the standard Symbian build toolchain, enabling both emulator (WINSCW) and ARM device (GCCE) targets. Developers can work with the Symbian Platform Security model and use the included tools to create SIS installation packages and prepare applications for Symbian Signed.
APIs cover the core S60 application framework and UI controls, messaging and telephony, multimedia, networking (such as HTTP, sockets, and Bluetooth), personal information management (contacts and calendar), and other device services typical of S60 FP2. The emulator streamlines functional testing, while on-device debugging and profiling help validate performance and behavior on real hardware.
Designed for both professional and independent developers targeting compatible Nokia devices, this SDK is well suited for building new applications, maintaining existing codebases, or porting solutions across the S60 3rd Edition family with Feature Pack 2 capabilities.
S60 3rd Edition SDK for Symbian OS, Feature Pack 2 is developed by Nokia. The most popular versions of this product among our users are: 1.0 and 1.1.
